Mayeul Akpovi filming for NewImages Festival

Mayeul Akpovi, originally from Cotonou, Benin, got hooked on photography after studying abroad. Coming back to Benin, he looks for a way to document his journey. Emerges the wish to testify of the landscapes where he lived.

In 2014, he starts working on a series, playing with time-laspe and hyper-lapse photography, of African big cities

For NewImages Festival, Mayeul Akpovi has been travelling for weeks all over the continent in a mean to translate an urban and contemporary image of Africa.

Linked with other photographers and directors works, the testimony of his journey will be part of a series drawing a portrait of African cities. 

During the festival, this series will be projected on a 180° screen, in open air at the heart of Paris.
